This week there is a LIV Golf party at the Kingdom, where a few PGA Tour players are invited.
Abraham Ancer is at the top with 7 under. This puts him one shot ahead of Sebastian Munoz, LIV’s newest reported player.
Cameron Young – Cameron Young is one of few PGA Tour players to be granted a release to participate in the Asian Tour sponsored by the Public Investment Fund. This financial backer also supports LIV Golf’s Sergio Garcia, Louis Oosthuizen and Louis Oosthuizen. Cameron Champ (T-30) and Lucas Herbert (T-18), both PGA Tour players, are also in the field.
Twenty-four of the 37 players who were below par on the first day of play played for LIV Golf.
Saudi International was established in 2019 by the regime’s Public Investment Fund. It offered attractive appearance fees to attract PGA Tour stars such as Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson, and Bryson deChambeau who later jumped to LIV.
The tournament was originally a stop on the DP World Tour, but LIV is now suing the European circuit, having invested more than $200 millions in the Asian Tour last season.
