Will Zalatoris sustained an injury on the third green of the BMW Championship’s third round last week. Zalatoris decided not to play after a brief visit with the PGA Tour physio.
His agent issued a statement shortly after he left the course. It concluded with “Will looks forwards to playing next week at Atlanta.”
This is not the case anymore.
World No. 9 has withdrawn from Tour Championship, and the chance to win $18 million and the FedEx Cup. With his No. He was at No. 3 and set to begin a 7 under, three shots behind Scottie Schiffler.
Zalatoris will also miss the East Lake event, and will not be playing in the Presidents Cup at Quail hollow Club next month.
Two herniated disks are now the classification for this injury.
Zalatoris was not one of six automatic qualifiers for USA team but he is currently No. 7th in the standings, and was expected to be among Captain Davis Love III’s six captains picks.
