Today’s episode “Professional Golfers: They’re Just Like Us!” features rising star Viktor Hovland.
The Norwegian 24-year-old was playing his first round at the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open, The Renaissance Club. He hit a series shots that made him seem more like a weekend hacker than the three-time PGA Tour winner and two-time DP World Tour champion that he is. Hovland missed the fairway on the fourth hole and hit a shot into thick grass that left a difficult approach. The former U.S. champion was unable to make it through the fourth hole. The former U.S. Amateur Champion was unable to make his third shot and barely advanced the ball.
Hovland made a double-bogey 6 and signed his name for a 4-over 75 to be 13 shots behind Cameron Tringale who shot a 9 under 61 on Thursday morning.
We will give Hovland a pass for his unfortunate behavior, considering that his bags and clubs didn’t arrive in Scotland earlier this week. This isn’t Hovland’s first incident. He actually won the previous time he had problems with clubs.
