Viktor Hovland (Norwegian golfer, currently ranked No. 8. On the way to the Genesis Scottish Open, his clubs were lost. He then played the fourth hole of today’s tournament opening round. He shanked his first shot, before puffing his third.
The 24-year-old can find solace knowing that, while his club might get lost on the road to tournaments, and once in awhile, he may mis-hit a few shots, he won’t be purchasing any golf equipment anytime soon.
Ping Golf, which is based in Phoenix announced Thursday that Hovland had resigned and will continue his relationship with Ping Golf for many years. Although financial details have not been released, Hovland will continue to play Ping golf clubs, carry a Ping staff backpack, and wear the logo on his hat.

Hovland won last November’s PGA Tour’s World Wide Technology Championship in Mayakoba. He then claimed the title at Hero World Challenge, and was tied for second at March’s Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Hovland was a member of the 2020 European Ryder Cup Team and will be trying to win his first major career title next week at St. Andrews’ 2022 British Open.
