Bryson de Chambeau was knocked down to the ground in Sunday’s final round at Chicago’s LIV Golf Invitational Series Chicago.
The mishap was captured on video by Kyle Porter, CBS, and others. It appears that the former U.S. Open champion attempted to walk under a gallery at Rich Harvest Farms, Sugar Grove, Illinois but grossly misjudged its height. The rope was also being lifted by volunteers at the event. He didn’t reach for it. He walked under the rope and he somehow caught it under his hat. It appears that he may have even hit his eye. DeChambeau then fell to one knee, as the announcers from the livestream groaned.
The announcer appears to have said “Off with his Head.”
Despite their awkward encounter, DeChambeau, who earlier in week stated that it was the PGA Tour’s loss that LIV players would not be allowed to participate in team events like the Presidents Cup or Ryder Cup, was able finish his round. He was tied for 10 the, seven strokes behind Cameron Smith.
