Women’s college tennis is a very small sport. There is one certainty when it comes to the national championships: the addition of match play in the NCAA Women’s Championship 2015 has brought more teams into the picture.
This list shows the postseason success of top teams. Arizona State and Duke top the list with eight and seven titles respectively.
Since 1982, the NCAA has only documented national champions. The Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women began administering the national championship in 1971. After the 1981-82 school year, AIAW, or as it was called, ceased to sponsor national championships and was dissolved. The Division for Girls’ & Women’s Sports, which was formed before the AIAW’s creation, organized women’s intercollegiate competitions.
This list includes AIAW titles when they are noteworthy, but the official championships of each school are only those that have been won by their respective schools.
