Expect the next round of LIV Golf announcements soon after the Tour Championship is over.
According to Golf Channel and Sports Illustrated, Cameron Smith has been long rumored as being heading to the Saudi-backed Greg Norman-led series. He will be joining at least five other golfers at LIV Golf’s fourth Boston event next week. Smith refused to comment on his departure from the FedEx St. Jude Championship and Niemann said that he was still deciding his fate.
According to reports, Smith and Niemann will be joined by Marc Leishman and Cameron Tringale and Harold Varner III. Golf Channel reported that Mito Pereira was also going to LIV Golf. However, SI stated Pereira would not be attending next week’s event.
Smith, Niemann, and Pereira all qualify automatically for the Presidents Cup International Team. However, if they wanted to play in the breakaway series they would be forced to vacate their spots, and they would all be removed from the PGA Tour.
Next month, the Presidents Cup will be held at Quail Hollow club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Smith and Niemann will be playing at the Tour Championship at East Lake, Atlanta this weekend.
