NBC/Golf Channel viewers will be able to see a telecast similar to other USGA events like the U.S. Open when they tune in to NBC/Golf Channel on August 22nd. Although the telecasts for both events look similar, operations for these events are quite different.
Each day, the U.S. Open will attract 30,000+ people. The merchandise tent measures over 1 acre. There are many tents and food outlets. After parking on-site, spectators can board shuttle buses that take them to the event. Outside superintendents volunteer to supplement the maintenance team.
There are many USGA and partner officials on-site. The staff of the host venue work closely with them. The director of golf might be responsible for the driving range during the U.S. Open week, while the food and beverage director could manage a local hospitality tent.
The expanded role of Chambers Bay’s team will be played at the U.S. Women’s Am. No tickets will be required. Just show up and have fun. There will be no merchandise tent. Only gear available in the golf shop. Fans will have the same food options as golfers. You can either dine at the clubhouse, or get drinks and quick food at two spots along the course.
Although the structures are smaller, the team behind the event puts forth a tremendous effort.
This is a look at the team that has worked for many years to stage this year’s US Women’s Am.
