Kamaiu Johnson has won the APGA Tour Championship twice in three years. Johnson was also awarded a number of perks, including a $50,000 check for first place.
TPC San Antonio’s final round 67 was punctuated on Tuesday by a birdie on his final hole. The prize money, which is the largest ever on the APGA Tour, is a testament to the fact that there is more diversity in golf.
Marcus Byrd & Daniel Augustus were faced with birdie putsts on 18 which would have forced a playoff, but neither was able convert.
Johnson is now exempt from early-stage events in the PGA Tour Latinoamerica series. He also has full scholarship to Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying School.
Johnson stated after Tuesday’s round that things have been trending in a positive direction and that he was happy with the outcome of the Tour Championship. My goal was to win the Lexus Cup and two tours this year. My team and I worked hard to achieve this.
Willie Mack III finished fourth, having won $27.500 for winning the title last year. Joseph Hooks and Tim O’Neal tied for fifth.
APGA Tour now has 18 events, with $800,000.000 in prize money. This year’s 12th tournament was the Tour Championship. Next up, the APGA Tour Cisco Invitational will be held at Baltusrol County Club in Springfield (New Jersey).
