It’s the end for an era in the CBS broadcast.
Sir Nick Faldo, who had been wearing the headset since 1996, said farewell to the booth on Sunday, the last round of the 2022 Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club, Greensboro, North Carolina. Six-time major champion and a long history with Sedgefield, dating back to 1979, when he made his PGA Tour debut at Greater Greensboro Open, was presented with a plaque at the ninth green of the club’s Wall of Fame. He joins Charlie Sifford, Arnold Palmer, and others.
It also included a few messages from Faldo’s former and current golf course colleagues. This broadcast was quite emotional at times. Dottie Pepper once joked that “Are you guys capable of calling this or would you like me to take it?”
Here’s how Sir Nick Faldo was honored by the golf world for his broadcast retirement.
