David Feherty doesn’t mince words. He didn’t mince words when explaining why he quit NBC/Golf Channel and became LIV Golf’s largest broadcaster.
Feherty said to the Toledo Blade that “Money” was his opinion. People don’t talk about this. “People don’t talk about it.”
LIV Golf Invitational Series still has no television partner. But Feherty’s move made the Greg Norman-led and Saudi Arabia-funded upstart circuit known to its broadcast team. Two weeks ago, he made his debut at LIV Beddingster.
Feherty, 63 years old, shared the answer with Gary Koch, a former colleague on NBC. The crowd cheered loudly.
He stated that there were three major reasons for his decision to switch. One reason was money. Another was the chance to become a leading analyst. This was the next step.
“A chance to be me again. Feherty stated that it’s becoming more difficult to be any type of character, especially in sports broadcasting. “Charles Barkley can speak pretty much whatever he likes because it’s ‘Oh, it’s just Charles.’ And it’s only Charles. Over the years, I have become more cautious. People are waiting to be offended by anything. These people are a nuisance.
“Small groups of mean-spirited people with no sense of humor are shaping our lives.” This is threatening to destroy our national senses of humor.
Feherty also spoke out about how the 9/11 Commission claimed that the Saudi government had been cleared of any wrongdoings in its role on the day. However, recent FBI disclosures suggest otherwise. Feherty also spoke out about how LIV Golf intended to donate at most $100 million to local charities.
Saudi Arabia is being accused of a wide range of human rights violations, including torture, forced disappearances, politically motivated killings, and inhumane treatment for prisoners. Saudi royals and the Saudi government were also accused of being involved in Jamal Khashoggi’s murder, a Washington Post columnist and journalist from Saudi Arabia.
