Who it’s for: Golfers want more forgiveness and stability when they mishit their putts.
The Skinny The Cleveland Frontline Elite putters use tungsten faces with forward-positioned soleweights to shift center of gravity to the front of their heads and increase stability.
The Deep Dive Tungsten can be used by golf equipment designers when making fairway woods, irons, and drivers. It is very dense, which makes it a great material. Tungsten is heavier than stainless steel, and much heavier than aluminum or titanium. This allows designers to focus a lot of weight in a small area, and shift the center of gravity (CG), without making the club larger.
Cleveland Golf uses tungsten in its Frontline Elite putters. This allows them to do the same thing, but in a different way. There are five different head shapes in the Frontline Elite family, and all of them have been made with a 30-gram metal-injection-molded (MIM) tungsten face. The tungsten-weighted faces are combined with the addition of milled steel weights to the toe and front heel areas of the sole. This helps to pull the CG position significantly forward which, according to Cleveland’s research reduces face rotation and twisting when hitting off-center. This should lead to putts that follow your intended line more often even if you hit the ball outside of the face.
Cleveland placed a layer vibration-dampening tape under the tungsten-infused insert to soften the impact. A vibration-dampening adhesive is also found under the aluminum sole plate.
Cleveland created the Frontline Elite putters with Speed Optimized Face Technology (SOFT). This grooved face improves distance control. Each club features a unique groove pattern. This is used to decrease ball speed in central (where strike is most effective) and increase ball speed in the heel, toe and fore areas. It also helps to normalize ball speed across the entire hitting area.
Cleveland has placed weight under the handle on the Frontline Elite putters in an effort to help golfers make a consistent stroke.
The Frontline Elite putters can be ordered with a standard shaft made of steel.
Frontline Elite putters are available in five head styles. These include the heel-toe weighted blades 1.0 and 8.0, as well as mallets such the wing-style Elvado and semi-circular CERO.
