Wyndham Clark won the PGA Tour's winner's circle about five weeks ago.
He's now aiming for his first major.
Clark, who shot a 64 in his first round at the Los Angeles Country Club North Course Thursday, to begin his bid for the 2023 U.S. Open, won the Wells Fargo Championship early in May.
It would have been a great start to a U.S. Open if his first round 64 was 7 under par, but it wasn't. Instead, it tied him with Dustin Johnson for second place. Rickie Schauffele and Rickie fowler both opened with tournament records 62s.
Clark, however, is still in great shape to win his first major title. He followed his 64-point first round with a 3-under-67 that puts him on 9 under par and the owner of clubhouse leader.
Here are some interesting facts about the 29 year old Denver native who was a classmate of San Francisco 49ers runningback Christian McCaffrey in high school.
