The 2023 schedule for the LIV Golf League is beginning to take shape.
Golfweek announced Monday that El Camaleon Golf Club, Riviera Maya, Mexico would host LIV’s first event in its new season. This club has previously hosted the PGA Tour’s World Wide Technologies Championship held at Mayakoba. Greg Norman, CEO at LIV Golf, designed and had strong ties with the resort and tournament organizers.
On Wednesday, the Saudi Arabia-backed circuit announced that Mexico would host an event. It also announced two other international stops: Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore (April 28, 30, and Real Club Valderrama (June 30, July 2). LIV had previously announced that an event would take place at the Grange Golf Club, Adelaide, Australia, April 21–23. This is the same venue where Norman won his first professional victory in 1976.
LIV previously stated that they would not go head-to-head against majors and would stay clear of “heritage events” on the PGA Tour such as the Memorial or Arnold Palmer Invitational. The opener in Mexico will take place opposite the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic. While the Australia event will be held during the week of New Orleans’ Zurich Classic. The Singapore event will be held the same week that the Mexico Open. The Spain stop will take place the week after the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
